Buenos Aires, November 27 (NA) – Gustavo 'Gato' Silvestre delivered one of the strongest speeches of the night when he received his award for Best Male Journalistic Work at the Martín Fierro de cable 2025. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), which was covering the ceremony live, the host highlighted the value of the recognition and reaffirmed his defense of journalism and the continuity of C5N, the channel where he hosts Minuto Uno for eleven years. 'Thank you, the truth is I'm very emotional,' he began, referring to the impact that seeing the image of Pope Francis during the broadcast had on him. Then, he dedicated a message to APTRA: 'We must continue to vindicate this award, which is the only one that celebrates all the workers in television and radio.' In one of the most powerful segments, Silvestre recalled the channel's toughest moments: 'We went through tough years with the Macri government that tried to close C5N, and here we are. We continue to be because no government, no matter how much it hates journalists, will be able to close or silence voices.' The journalist stated that the program's commitment is unalterable: 'We will continue to point out all the errors and all the issues that harm people and society.' Silvestre especially mentioned the channel's team: 'I want to thank C5N, which for eleven years has maintained this program that shows reality, whether it pleases some or weighs on others.' He also greeted 'all the colleagues who fight every day not only for a better country, but for a better society.' In the final segment, he highlighted the business role behind C5N: 'In these difficult times, I want to thank Lisandro López, the CEO of C5N, and Cristóbal López, because no matter how much persecution and unjust prison they gave him, acquitted by justice, he continues to grow and we continue to grow in this country.' He closed with a defense of the medium he is part of: 'In independent media, we don't care about the advertising, we care about moving forward with the truth and the reality that we show daily on the C5N screen.'
